An isobar is a type of contour line that connects lines that have the same pressure on a map. The lines are drawn connecting places of equal average atmospheric pressure reduced to sea level. Pressure lines are very important in order to show different weather phenomena and how it forms. The Weather Channel shows isobars on a US map.
